Sex and Age Discrimination Legislation Amendment Bill 2010

The Sex and Age Discrimination Legislation Amendment Bill 2010 has been referred to the Senate Legal and Constitutional Affairs Legislation Committee, which is to report on the third sitting day of 2011.

If passed, the Bill will:

  • prohibit discrimination on family responsibilities for both men and women in all areas of employment;
  • establish breastfeeding as a separate ground of discrimination; and
  • establish a stand-alone Age Discrimination Commissioner.
