Rights of persons with disabilities

The Australian Government has issued an invitation to participate in its consultation on a National Interest Analysis (NIA) to enable it to make an informed decision on whether or not to ratify The United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities .

The effect of ratification is to affirm Australia’s
intention to be bound by the Convention’s articles.
The NIA will assess whether ratification of the
Convention is in the national interest by analysing the impact
ratification is likely to have on Australia and Australians living with
a disability.
