A draft code of ethics for financial advisers has been issued by the Financial Adviser Standards and Ethics Authority. Background

The draft code requires affected financial advisers to ‘act in accordance with the spirit – and not only the letter – of all relevant laws and regulations’.

The Code of Ethics contains core values to guide ethical behaviour, client care, quality of process and professional commitment amongst advisers.
