Attorney General announces standalone Privacy Commissioner

The Commonwealth Attorney General has announced the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner will be fully restored, with standalone privacy and freedom of information commissioners.

Elizabeth Tydd has been appointed as the FoI commissioner for a five-year term. Her appointment will start 19 February 2024.

Carly Kind has been appointed as Privacy Commissioner from 26 February 2024, which reinstates the standalone position abolished by the previous government.
